Track Inspiration
Rayna came to life a few months after Bruno James’ daughter Rayna asked him to write a Christmas song. As he was lying in bed one night he heard melodies and rushed to the Dungeon to lay down the track. A holiday-inspired composition in 7/8, it inadvertently blends melodies of classic holiday tunes into a fresh and unexpected rhythm. It weaves familiar motifs into a new musical structure that feels playful dynamic and majestic. The rough draft title “Rayna” was given the night of recording. When the time came to title the song after mixing months later, he surprisingly discovered there was another definition for Rayna besides Queen (Latin translation). The Hebrew translation being “Song of the Lord” and so the title remained due to this surprising synchronicity.
